Reduction of carbon emissions from means of transportation
One of the factors that have a direct impact on the environment is transportation. Whether by air, sea or land, if they use fuels, they are all affected. They are major actors of global warming. In order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, it is essential that each individual limits his or her travel as much as possible and avoids unnecessary trips. On a daily basis, cars are the most polluting. In order to reduce this pollution, increasing parking fees is one of the options taken by some countries. This solution encourages many motorists to use public transportation or carpooling. People should also be encouraged to use low-emission or diesel-powered vehicles that consume less energy and produce less carbon.
Greening of every household
The second element that has a great negative impact on global warming is the use of fuels as an energy source. Every home or apartment cannot do without electricity on a daily basis. However, it is possible to limit the emission of greenhouse gases by adopting a few ecological gestures. To reduce the carbon footprint, one of the solutions to adopt is the use of green electricity. This is no longer difficult, since several suppliers offer it according to the preference of each. It is possible to opt for solar energy for those who are located in highly sunny areas. Similarly, towards wind energy for those who are exposed to the wind. Moreover, it is also advisable to choose the right refrigerant to put in the refrigeration or freezing appliances. It is better to inquire about products that induce less pollution. In addition, if possible, it is ideal to dry clothes in the sun instead of using tumble dryers. These are simple gestures, but they are all the more ecological.
Carbon tax in all sectors and gas sequestration
To encourage everyone to emit less CO2, taxation in all sectors (buildings, transport, companies) is a good alternative. This carbon tax is a tariff added to the price of products that emit carbon dioxide when used. Its objective is to encourage people to consume less energy. For example, this tax is often applied to the price of fuels such as gasoline, diesel, heating oil or fuel oil. For housing, the tax is integrated into the rent. It is the same for the cost of airline tickets. Indeed, the gain will be invested in the renewal and development of energy. Concerning the companies which are among the biggest carbon emitters, they must study the environmental impact of their activities and reduce their ecological footprint as much as possible. The replacement of fossil fuels by renewable energies as an energy source in industries is also important. There is currently the carbon credit which is an effective measure. Apart from these solutions within different sectors, there is nowadays carbon sequestration in the atmosphere. This method consists of capturing CO2 and then storing it in natural reservoirs or in hydrocarbon deposits. It is a very efficient technique because of its capacity to eliminate up to 80% of carbon in the atmosphere.
